Project Aims, Impact, Deliverables And/Or Desired Outcomes
Aims
The aim of the Project is to provide an integrated community equipment service across Denbighshire. This will be achieved through Health and Social Services with a single management of the service, pooled operating budget, and the introduction of a new IT system for use throughout the partnership with a phased target introduction date of December 08 - March 09.
Impact
CESI will impact on the following areas of practice:
- Effective systems for prescribing professionals to order equipment;
- Effective delivery, installation and demonstration of equipment;
- Good procurement practice boosted by improved purchasing power through agencies working together;
- Efficient control of stock and effective tracking of equipment;
- Effective arrangements for servicing, collection and decontamination of equipment; and
- Effective arrangements for recycling and for exchanging or selling on specialist items of equipment through the mechanism of a virtual store.
Deliverables and/or desired outcomes
- New storage facilities with improved health and safety conditions for staff;
- Reduce loss of staff time through improved logistics and storage;
- Integration of the equipment service to facilitate speedy delivery of equipment;
- Decontamination ensuring that all equipment is subject to standard decontamination/infection control measures;
- Demonstration facilities (including Sensory Impairment equipment) and stock of equipment;
- Information Technology: Hardware and software to facilitate:
- storage,
- maintain up to date service records of individual items of equipment (to help to ensure hoists etc are maintained),
- tracking of equipment,
- retrieval, recovery and notification of equipment,
- ordering and delivery of equipment to service users,
- maintaining records of those able to prescribe equipment,
- record and prompt reviews,
- maintain records on recycling,
